FEES

Triple One Psychology

Each psychologist sets their own fees.  Fees need to be paid in full on the day of receiving a service.

The fees may vary substantially below or above the recommended fees depending on the service being provided.

If you and your family have high medical and allied health costs you may be eligible for more relief through Medicare Safety Nets:

The Australian Association of Psychologists incorporated (AAPi) Recommended Fees

The AAPi  has a recommended fee that is usually updated annually.  The current recommended fee to see a psychologist for one hour is $330.00.

The Australian Psychological Society (APS) Recommended Fees

The APS has a recommended fee schedule published each year.  The current recommended hourly rate (45-60 minutes) to see a psychologist is $318.00.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The NDIS has recently updated the maximum fee for psychologists to $232.99 per hour.  Previously, the fees varied across different States.  All States now use the same fee structure.  There are no gaps to pay for NDIS clients where the work is funded by the NDIS.

Cancellation and non-attendance is charged at the full NDIS rate.

Full fees for psychologists that are not registered with the NDIA can be covered where the person's NDIS funding is Planner Managed or Self Managed.  Additional charges may apply where the funds are Planner Managed or Self Managed, but the debts are not paid in a reasonable timeframe, incurring further work such as reminders and recovery of additional costs.

Other charges may apply for NDIS participants if they need to be seen for therapy, assessment or other services that are outside of the scope of the NDIS or not covered in their current NDIS plan.

Open Arms services for veterans and members of their families

Some psychologists are registered with Open Arms to provide fully funded services for veterans or members of their families. Please check before your first appointment if you think this may apply to you.

Return To Work / Workcover

Compensable work such as Return To Work or Workcover has a current schedule of fees based on $261.50 per hour.  Check with the psychologist before making an appointment to see if they are willing to do this sort of work.

Negotiate an affordable fee wherever possible

The Psychologist may take into account the likely frequency of your need for appointments when setting fees.

Medicare Bulk Billing (with no gap fee) may be considered in exceptional circumstances, but there is very limited availability.

You are encouraged to discuss in advance of your first appointment what fees you will pay.

Especially discuss before your first appointment if you think you need to pay a lower fee.

Discuss the availability of any rebates that may help cover some of the cost, such as Medicare or private health rebates.

The Medicare rebate is currently $98.95 for an appointment of over 50 minutes and $70.15 for an appointment of between 20 and 50 minutes.  No Medicare rebates apply for an appointment of less than 20 minutes.  No Medicare rebates apply for cancellations at short notice and non-attendance for which you may be charged the full fee.
